Parthenope, mother of all districts
A project commissioned by Voiello and realized by the artist Leticia Mandragora, in collaboration with the Neapolitan fashion designers Vienmnsuonno1926, portrays the city of Naples as a living body, where myth and contemporaneity merge into a single iconic image.
The siren Parthenope, mother and symbol of the city, returns as the protagonist in the mural that bears her name:
"Parthenope, mother of all districts", created on the facade of a building in Piazza Francesco Muzii, in the heart of Arenella.
A visual narrative between myth and contemporaneity
Cobalt blue, the distinctive mark of Leticia Mandragora, a Madrid artist but Neapolitan by adoption, envelops the ethereal figure of Parthenope.
Universal symbols intertwine in her strength and delicacy: wheat ears, a sign of fertility and abundance, and a tail that becomes a living map of Naples.
"Parthenope, mother of all districts" is both myth and manifesto: a work that celebrates beauty, diversity, and a sense of belonging.
But it is the tail of this modern Parthenope, Mother of the districts of Naples that makes the work truly unique: a monumental pattern, a mosaic of thirty scales enclosing as many coats of arms of the city's districts.
From Arenella to Scampia, from Chiaia to Ponticelli, up to Vomero and the Industrial Zone.
Each emblem becomes a fragment of her mythological body that unites the districts in a symbolic embrace: a whole where no one is forgotten, and every part contributes to the identity of the whole.
The emblems were designed based on the iconography created by Vienmnsuonno1926, the collective of young Neapolitan fashion designers who have been promoting a new way of narrating the territory for years — a contemporary "landtelling", where aesthetics, memory, and identity intertwine in a common vision.
After collaborating with Voiello for the Miez'a Via project in Navigli, Milan, Vienmnsuonno1926 returns to Naples, once again intertwining fashion, art, and popular culture.
The result is a collective work: a siren that embraces the entire city, reminding us that every district — from the center to the outskirts — is a living part of its pulse.
